A new Grevy’s zebra born at the Phoenix Zoo has been named Bakari, Swahili for “one who will succeed”. The name could not be more fitting.

Starting in June, Arizona residents will have the unique opportunity to earn a Master’s degree locally among animals from around the world.

President Barack Obama has nominated Bert Castro, president and CEO of the Arizona Zoological Society/Phoenix Zoo, as a member of the National Museum and Library Services Board.

Conservationists and visitors boarded shuttles at the Phoenix Zoo on Monday to commemorate the groups that formed a coalition to repopulate black-footed ferret, the only species of its kind native to North America.
