Students at Biltmore Prep won the “Youchange Earth Day Challenge” for collecting the most electronics items: cell phones, computers, gaming devices, televisions – anything with an on/off switch.

The school turned in the most electronic items per student over a two week period winning a $2,500 grand prize plus an extra $1,006.50 compensation for the functional electronic items collected.

Out of 30 schools competing, Biltmore Prep donated over 12,350 lbs of electronic recyclable waste to win the award. The contest was sponsored by Youchange, a company that recycles electronics and encourages students to solve the problem of electronic waste.
